THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN
The American Rescue Plan was passed on March 11, 2021 to support Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. This relief package provided a 20 percent income boost to the 20 percent of Americans struggling the most, by:
- Providing $1,400 direct stimulus checks to Americans making $75,000 or less annually,
- Allotting $350 billion in aid to state and local governments,
- Distributing $14 billion in aid for vaccine distribution,
- Expanding the child tax credit providing families $3,600 per child,
- Providing $300 billion in weekly jobless benefits, and
- Distributing $170 billion to help schools and campuses reopen and operate safely.
Over the last year, 5.8 million people across the country newly gained access to affordable health care coverage subsidized by the President’s American Rescue Plan.
The American Rescue Plan delivered direct relief to Americans and their families who needed it most and is still supporting the American people one year later.
