Shaping the Narrative

The Committee to Protect Health Care Education Fund is a trusted voice steering the conversation to accurate, patient-centered health care stories told with an unrivaled communications footprint.

OUR CURRENT STRATEGIES

Public Education

We’re informing the public about the health care issues that matter.

When patient experiences are at the forefront of people’s minds, the conditions are created to make tangible progress toward health equity for all.

Earned and Paid Media

We’re amplifying our message through media channels to expand our reach and create meaningful influence by ensuring physician and patient stories resonate far and wide.

We use an aggressive array of earned media strategies, including virtual and in-person press conferences, pitching media interviews, op-eds and letters to the editor in order to move effective messages in key media markets.

Rapid Response Communications

We’re quickly addressing breaking news and crises to promote our message inside the news cycle or combat disinformation as it happens.

We know that in this day and age, timeliness is everything, so we keep our ears to the ground on health care news and ensure physician voices are part of the narrative as quickly as possible.

Public Polling & Research

We’re leveraging the latest data and research to ensure our messaging resonates with our audience and maximizes impact.

Moving the wrong message can be not just ineffective but harmful to the cause. We make sure physician messages are backed by polling and tested whenever possible in order to first, do no harm, and second, be as effective as possible.

STRATEGY HIGHLIGHTS

Meeting Disinformation Head On

We remain diligent in meeting disinformation head on, be it around vaccines, reproductive health care, or the many other facets of health care, using credible medical experts. To ensure we’re doing more good than harm, we train messengers not to repeat disinformation, and instead to set the record straight with clear, correct information.

Responding Rapidly to Dobbs

When the U.S. Supreme Court issued the Dobbs decision in 2022, overturning Roe v Wade and the federal right to abortion, physicians with the Committee were ready to respond in 8 states about how the decision could impact state abortion access.

Within 9 hours of the court’s decision, we held 6 virtual press conferences featuring physicians sharing what the decision meant for their patients, with 2 more the following day.
