Pro-Patient Majorities

We build and support majorities in legislatures that prioritize patients over profits. By electing leaders who fight for accessible health care systems, we ensure that patient-focused policies have the momentum to succeed at all levels of government.

The Committee to Protect Health Care endorses health care champions for state legislatures and Congress who we can work with to ensure everyone in the United States has access to the health care they need to thrive.

Passing pro-patient policies starts with electing pro-patient champions in Congress and state legislatures.

With our experienced campaign staff, we strategically target our resources, including earned and paid media with tested, effective messaging to make a difference in key races.

The Committee to Protect Health Care has endorsed candidates for state legislatures in multiple election cycles, and in states across the country, who have committed to protecting and expanding access to affordable care, including supporting policies such as prescription drug affordability boards, state public options, reproductive health care protections, and more.

In 2024 we announced our first-ever Congressional endorsements, with candidates endorsed in nearly all 50 states following distribution of a policy primer on our priorities, a candidate policy-briefing, and collection of hundreds of completed questionnaires.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Federal Endorsements

In 2024, the Committee to Protect Health Care announced our first ever Congressional endorsements for candidates committed to protecting the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid, protecting the Inflation Reduction Act and its provisions that lower drug costs for seniors, promoting site-neutral payment policies, and protecting and expanding reproductive rights.

Beyond publicizing the endorsements on our website, we shared a toolkit of digital and design assets for the campaign to publicize our endorsement and amplified our endorsements to our national network of tens of thousands of physicians and health care advocates, ensuring individuals across the country knew which candidates were aligned with our priorities.

State Endorsements

Using a formal questionnaire and endorsement process, including state-specific policy primers, we’ve endorsed hundreds of candidates for state legislatures across the country.

In 2024, we endorsed in 9 states where we determined we could have the biggest impact on advancing pro-health care policies.
